Surgical instruments reception

The reception of a new instrument will not have to be entrusted that with a personnel informs of the procedures to carry out. After control of conformity to the order, this material could be unpacked and it will be advisable before any treatment to secure of sound good operating condition.
An instrument which could appear defective will have to be turned over in its packing of origin while abstaining from any attempt at "do-it-yourself" under penalty of cancellation of the guarantee.
The test with copper sulfate as recommended by AFNOR does not have any value to validate the quality of a stainless steel of Martensitic type and cannot that to induce in error by wrongfully positive results.
The test with water ebullient pulp/as recommended by AFNOR does not have interest if the supply were carried out near a qualified supplier.
If the instrument should not be brought into service immediately, to store it :
- in a dry and clean room,
- out of its plastic packing,
- far from any acid solution, even under closed container,
- well off any metal of different composition and especially ferrous ore (in an old chrome box, in contact with a chrome instrument, etc.…),
- with the abrit of any overload,
- according to a classification allowing an easy identification.
